Welcome Message

Dear Friends and Colleagues

On behalf of the International Society of Dermatopathology, the Portuguese Society of Dermatology and Venereology and the Portuguese Group of Dermatopathology we would like to invite you to attend and be part of the XL Symposium of the International Society of Dermatopathology.

15 years after the 25th Symposium of the ISDP, it is a great pleasure to host once more in Lisbon, Portugal, from 19th to 21st of September 2019, the annual meeting of this Society. It will take place at “Centro Cultural de Belém”, a privileged location in an historical area by the river Tejo.

We are preparing an outstanding scientific programme, focusing on most of the challenging themes in Dermatopathology and we are very happy to count on many of the relevant names in Dermatopathology for the Faculty of this event.

Like Lisbon itself, we aim to incorporate in the Scientific Programme, “the old and the new” in a harmonious way, remembering and celebrating 40 years of activity of the Society as well as emphasizing recent Discoveries.

Apart from sessions on specific themes, there will be place for Free communications and Posters and we invite you to participate actively in the meeting and share your work with the ISDP.

Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, has a rich and ancient history; since its dawn, it has been a strategic hub for trading and later for the maritime discoveries. It may have been the first place where extreme Orient, India, Africa and Americas came together. Lisbon is a city of the “Lusophony” a community of the Portuguese speaking countries. All have shaped Lisbon’s architecture, way of life, culture, music, gastronomy.

You’ll be enchanted by the light of Lisbon; it reflects the blue river and ocean, the white marble and limestone of buildings and sidewalks, the colorful houses of old Lisbon. It is a city of hills, featuring distinct neighborhoods, from the old and popular Muslim Mouraria and Alfama with old houses and narrow streets, to the more fashionable and glamorous as Chiado.

Lisbon is home to outstanding performing art venues, fine museums, namely the eclectic Gulbenkian Museum, Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (Antique Art Museum), Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea (Contemporary Art Museum) and many others.

We sincerely hope you will be able to come and let us welcome you in our beautiful city.
